Matters needing attention in taper machining of WEDM

In WEDM, taper machining is always the most difficult. If we don't pay attention to it, it will cause errors and lead to poor precision of finished products. Therefore, we need to pay attention to the following points when machining taper.
1.Distance algorithm of taper movement: Using trigonometric function, the amount of UV axis movement can be calculated when taper cutting, formula: (Z axis height + Da + Db) * Tan cutting angle = U or V axis movement, example: cutting taper = 18 degrees Da = 6Db = 6, Z axis height = 50m (50 + 6 + 6) * tan18 = 62 * 0.3249 = 20.14, so U or V axis will move 20.14mm  when cutting(for reference only).
2.When NC WEDM taper is machined, the error of AY is about 0.021MM in X direction due to the change of the cutting point of the guide wheel, and AY is about 0.04MM in Y direction. When the dimension error in tangent direction is offset, and the error in groove direction is accumulated due to the tangent point, a square taper part with tangent will produce the error of the Wire edm wear parts. In order to reduce the influence of taper machining on the material consumption of Wire edm wear parts, the taper machining can be rotated 45 degrees, so that X, Y axis linkage, the error can be greatly reduced.
3.Choice of upper and lower nozzles: The maximum allowable cutting taper is 15 C when using a standard nozzle. When exceeding this taper, replace the nozzle with a larger taper (the nozzle has a larger aperture and therefore allows a larger tilt angle).  
To sum up, online cutting taper machining requires more attention to avoid errors.
